Transmit the DTMF from BS through headset cellular phone.

I am trying to transmit the DTMF sound from Basic stamp through
cellular phone headset connection.
What I did was connect the output directly to headset, but it seem
that it damage mic section of my cellular phone headset. Because when
I use my headset cable, people telling me that they have hard time to
hear me.
Can some one tell me how can I safely transmit DTMF sound from BS
through Cellular phone headset?
