Greetings!
Are you trying to measure temperature?
If so, why not get four 'ThermoChron' iButtons from DalSemi?
They don't need any batteries, can be read from a BS2p or your PC and
are
dead easy to set up.
(I do it with homebrew software for my PDA)
A ThermoChron have about 2KB of memory, so you could use a BS2p to read
off 6 or 7 of these, then dump it to a PC later.(Using the BS2p as a
reader/programmer)
The only problem is that it seems DalSemi have problems delivering them
in large quantities...
:-)

I got one of their loggers for temperature and for a test, I stuck it
in the fridge.
it took about 45 minutes to clear 80% of the error and was still
ramping towards temperature at an hour.
A half decent sensor should be able to monitor the compressor on
cycles as temperature dips, this never even made it to the actual
refriderator temperature.
it worked neat at room temperature though.
I'll give them another look.

Sounds expensive...

I've yet to find any data on Sony's memory sthick devices, so can't tell
you how to connect to them... (No the extra 'h' wasn't a mistake :-)
Smartcards may be a possibility. Try asking on a forum where they
discuss pirated Sattelite decoders and such stuff. There may be someone
there who knows how to program them.
Will the BS2 be left 'in the field' so to say, and are you planning to
just swap storage devices?
How much DATA are we talking about?
There are ibuttons with 8KB Non-volatile RAM on the market, which would
allow you to just swap a full chip with an empty one.
There are 1-Wire adapters available that fits EPOC(Psion, Ericsson using
the synch cable and a null-modem adapter), directly to the hot-synch
connector on a Palm, or even a WinCE machine....
(Or you could use a luggable PC)

Maybe importing the Data into Excel and displaying it as a bar-graph?
(Or any of the other graph choices)
Wasn't there a VB component to upload data from a BS2, and directly into
Excel?
