Easy A/D converters?

Hello!
What are some A/D converters that can be easily connected to the basic
stamp? I'm quite new with the basic stamp. In fact, I hadn't
realized that it didn't have built in A/D converters, as does the
OOPic. However, I'm willing to put in the extra work because my
initial tests with the basic stamp have been super and I love the
editor.
I'm looking for a very basic 8-bit A/D converter that doesn't need a
lot of external components. I need, um, I think it's called "4
channel"... One that can measure 4 analog signals.
Thanks a ton!

Go to www.maxim-ic.com
There are literally hundreds of choices. Welcome to the stamp. Probably the
easiest uP on the planet to use.

The TLC2543 12-bit 11-channel is very easy to use. Surprisingly, you will
find that it is probably a lot cheaper than a 4-channel. Takes 4 pins - channel
select, datain, dataout and clock.

Maxim. Is there one that you've used before that you could recommend?

Hi Bret -
Here is a relatively simple 4-channel ADC from National which you should be
able source quite easily:

Hi Bret,
the TLC chip is a good bet as it is 11 channel and will offer all
your ADC inputs needs and offer the excess pins as digital inputs if
you want.
Also, there are quite a few sites (Like Tracey's OWL site) that offer
simple explanations of how to connect it and how to address it in
software. That particular chip has a lot of people on here to help
if you need it.

I'm looking for a very basic 8-bit A/D converter that doesn't need a
lot of external components. I need, um, I think it's called "4

Parallax (and many others) sells the
Maxim ADC0831 chip (single channel) (8-pins).
They have interfacing instructions in their

Having started using the BS2 in Jan '03, I
sympathize with the huge amount of possible chips
to be used, and the desire just to have one or two
to begin with.
