Maybe a silly idea, but can you just increase the diameter of the winch
drum?

Thanks for the info Hank. A proper "Sail winch" or Sail Arm Servo
would be great but would doulbe the cost of my boat. I had seen a
long time ago, about changing a few components inside a servo which
would increase it's rotation to nearly 180° for the same 1mS to 2mS
PWM range.

With the 90° swing at present, and an extended arm length of 6", I
can pull in 8" of "Sheet". It needs to be 12" or more!
