Modifying R/C Servo''s for 180° rotation?

Most R/C servo's have a mechanical swing of about 180° but an R/C TX
produces a PWM O/P of 1mS to 2mS which corresponds to a movement of
only 90°. Anyone know of any easy way to modify a servo to give a
180° movement for the same I/P range of 1 to 2mS?
I had thought of inserting a STAMP between the RX O/P and the servo
and outing say, 0.5mS to 2.5mS for a corresponding I/P of 1 to 2mS!
I am building a large R/C Catamaran and for the servo controlling
the sails, I require a 180° of movement.
