Split Power Supply Need Help!

I am trying to make a motor controller using bi-polar transistors but
the schematic shows a split power supply. Does anyone know if it is
possible to make one with a nine volt battery. I think a system of
diodes would do it but I am not sure how. I appreciate any help.

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you explain a little more?

Mstroboto,
I'm not sure what you mean. Could you explain a little more?

lead of the dc motor can be connected to a ground and signals of
either +V of -V can be used to control its direction. It is very
confusing to me but it is clearly used in a schemaic in a book I have
Robot Builders Bonanza on p. 259.

A split power supply provides a -V as well as a +V which means one
lead of the dc motor can be connected to a ground and signals of
either +V of -V can be used to control its direction. It is very
confusing to me but it is clearly used in a schemaic in a book I have
