PARDON ALL CAPS. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO READ AND TYPE ALL CAPS MUCH EASIER
FOR OVER 50 YEARS.
REFERENCE THE ATTCHED URL. A MUCH IMPROVED AND SIMPLIFIED CKT FOR MOTOR
CONTROL AND REVERSAL FOLLOWS.
2 SPST RELAYS WITH NORMALY CLOSED CONTACTS GROUNDED.
WITH NORMALY OPEN CONTACTS TO MOTOR SOURCE VOLTAGE IE 5 VDC.
MOTOR BETWEEN ARMATURE OF RELAY 1 AND 2 (ARMATURE IS MOVING POLE PIECE)
BOTH RELAYS ONE SIDE OF COIL TO GROUND
BOTH RELAYS HOT SIDE OF COIL TROUGH DRIVER SWITCHING TRANSISTOR TO
ISOLATE BS2 FROM POSSIBLY HEAVY RELAY COIL CURRENT.DONT FORGET REVERSE
BIAS PROTECTION DIODES ACROSS THE RELAY COILS.
ACTIVATE RELAY 1 ONLY, FOR ONE DIRECTION AND POWER ON
ACTIVATE RELAY 2 ONLY, FOR OTHER DIRECTION AND POWER ON
BOTH RELAYS ON OR BOTH RELAYS OFF GIVE DYNAMIC BREAKING. (STOP)
THIS CIRCUIT IS POWER SAVING IN SO MUCH AS ONLY ONE RELAY IS USED AT A
TIME. NEVER TWO RELAY ON.
ALSO IT IS FAIL SAFE IN THAT LOSS OF POWER THE MOTOR STOPS IMEADIATLY.

Subject: relays for motor control ....
The following link shows a the schematic for using the stamp to
control motors. What kind of relays are these? I mean what ratings do
i look for? Will the stamp crank out enough amps to through a relay?
http://maelabs.ucsd.edu/mae_ds/stamp/how/hardware/motors_dpdt/dpdt.htm
l
Any help or links to these 10 pin relays that will work with the
stamp will be greatly appreciated.

Comments
involves a single DPDT relay to switch direction with FORWARD being the
default(REVERSE when the relay is activated). From here I would use a
MOSFET bank (at least 4) all wired in parallel to get a really LOW
RdsOn to control the speed. With the use of a bridge rectifier you
can create a simple "Regenerative Brake" in addition to adding diode
protection to your circuit.
