Talkin'' to a Marantz Remote

Yes, the Parallax IR-Buddy makes sense in this application.

Your remote MUST be able to send 'Phillips RC-5' protocol
in order to use the IR-buddy, but most remotes these days
have a selection for this. Verify with your remote
control manual that you can choose a 'Phillips' remote,
and you should be good to go.

Also, I recently ordered the X10 'ActiveHome' kit.
$50.00 and shipping is free. This
comes with a very nice IR and X10 RF remote (you
can select up to 6 vendor devices for it), along with
the RF receiver unit for your house, and a CM11 interface
for your PC (or stamp). It also has a light dimmer module.

I know, X10 has some of the most irritating sales pop-ups,
but I have been using their stuff since 1988 to control
lights and fans in the house -- it's good stuff, of good
quality, and works well. The combination of a trainable
IR remote and X10 access will let you set light levels,
change speaker volume, etc. Plus, you can use the
IR buddy to interface the Stamp, and the CM11 to allow
the Stamp to control the X10 devices.
