Check out the Universal Infra-Red Transceiver (UIRT) pages on the
internet....very close...
More info....they are going with a PIC...

I found one complete for $3....so I never built one. Works with Girder too :)
Good luck,

I just received a Marantz RC9300 IR remote control with my home-theater
receiver, and see the remote has a programming port which allows you to
reprogram its soft screens and hard controls to suit your fancy. See
http://www.marantz.com/hifi/america/main.html - RC3200edit for the remote
editing program with an on-screen emulator and everything.
Is there a reasonable way to hook an IR receiver to a Stamp port and be able
to control the Stamp via this type of IR remote? The possibility of building
my own screens on the touch-panel remote that could do cool stuff (lower the
lights, drop the video screen, mute individual speakers, etc) is very
enticing.
If not this remote control specifically, how about a $10 universal TV remote
you can buy everywhere.
Suggestions?
