Uh, whoops... BS2p EEPROM

Ok, well, now I feel pretty low.

I was playing with a motor today, having it hooked up to my breadboard.
Let's see how fast it will go! Woohoo! Wow, that things going quick, no
heat! Neat! Smile, what was hat spark and smoke! Oh, ****, my BS2p was in
there as well! Damn....

Anyway, now it's obviously toast, as there's a hole in the Ubicom
microprocessor, and it's missing a pin. Lesson learned, needless to say!

So, anyway, I'm trying to find information on the 24WC128J EEPROM that's on
the board, but can't find a datasheet. If it's still functional, at least
I'll get a little bit of use out of this thing. Does anyone have any
information on this chip?

Steve

    Hi Steve -

Sorry to hear about the toasting. You should be able to find the EEPROM you
    need
here: http://www.catsemi.com/iko_bld_page.cfm?id=3&tcat=1 and the data sheet.

Mouser [ http://www.mouser.com/ ] apparently distributes Catalyst Semi
    Products.

    Regards,

    Bruce Bates

Sorry to hear about the toasting. I have successfully replaced the
damaged MCU on the stamp carrier, after blowing the chip out myself.
It's a little tricky but can be done. You can also send the Basic Stamp
module back to Parallax and they can usually repair or replace it for a
    nominal charge too.
I believe they have info on their website about how to do this.
If you're up to repairing it yourself, you can get the MCU and EEPROM
from Parallax as well. But you'll likely need a hot air rework station
to remove the bad chip. The chip you get from Parallax comes with the
Basic Stamp program already programmed in. If you just get the Ubicom
Scenix chip itself, it is not programmed with the Basic Stamp
    Interpreter code.
Most of the time the MCU gets toasted but the EEPROM survives.
