The BS2 family all use the same core language (PBASIC). The BS2 is the
stock, single slot [program] device and still accounts for the majority of our
sales. We built the other modules to meet specific customer requests or needs.
You can get details from our web site, but here's an overview:
BS2:
One 2K program slot, speed = 1
BS2e:
Eight 2K program slots, speed = 1
BS2sx:
Eight 2K program slots, speed = 2.5
BS2p:
Eight 2K program slots, speed = 3, additional language features (LCD, I2C,
1-Wire), comes in a 40-pin version as well.
BS2pe:
Eight 2K program slots, eight 2K data slots, speed = 1+, same language
features as BSP
And yes, you can actively communicate between your Stamp program and a PC
program. I've done it with VB, others have also succeeded with other PC
languages.
