Beta 2 IDE

I just downloaded the Beta 2, and right off I noticed that "VAR" and "CON"
should be syntax highlighted.

Does the IDE allow another program to run it, "compile", and download and
start running a stamp program? I have used Codewright in the past (a program
editor) for C and Java, and it would be great to be able to use it in
conjunction with Parallax's software. I don't mean to put down the software,
but Codewright has many features that are useful, and is very extensive
(similar to emacs).

    The BASIC Stamp editor/compiler has long-allowed the use of external tools --
    until recently I have been using EditPlus. Please keep in mind that our #1
    priority has to be on the compilation process and the hardware. We do the best
    we can to make a nice IDE, but there will always be someone out there who
    specializes in that stuff that will have a more feature-rich environment.

    See my Nuts & Volts article "Tool Time" for notes on using an external
    editor. Here's the URL to a PDF:

    On your specific point about VAR and CON:

    * Open Preferences dialog
    * Select "Editor Appearance" tab
    * Select PBASIC scheme (default)
    * Click "Copy Scheme" button and approve (Custom scheme now selected)
    * From the "Syntax Element" list select Declarations
    * Select new foreground color
