submersible motors

anyone know where to get cheap submersible motors that would be water
proof down to several feet under water (eg >7 feet)? I heard that
bilge pump motors are water proof but I'm not sure up to what depth.
I've heard of 'model airplane fuel pump' motors being used on
submersible robots too but I'm not sure about their power/depth.
Thanks everyone.

hey that's great that's what I'm working on, use Minn Kotta 12 or 24 volt dc
trolling motors, they will be fine at those depths, if you want to go deeper
you can drill a hole in the case, upgrade the bearing to a waterproof one,
fill the motor with medical grade mineral oil, and put a rubber diaphragm
over the hole. The diaphragm and oil allow the pressure inside and outside
to be equal so nothing tries to squirt out. The oil will only work on
brushless motors, obviously it will burn in a brush motor. Often some of
the trolling motor co's will sell remanufactured/repaired motors for about
    half price.

They will go plenty deep, hundreds of feet. Without modification you
should get 7 feet no problem.

You could try a In the Tank Fuel Pump. Motor. I have a used one that you are
Welcome To. Looks like you may need to cut the end off in order to get to the
Shaft. It operates on 12 VDC and came from a Breatta.

That's a good idea, waterproof and won't use many amps. Cheaper controller
too, what would you use as a controller?
