Joystick type switch?

Anyone have any idea what one is called?

The type of switch I'm talking about is like a mini joystick. It operates
all 4 directions, and can be pushed in for a 5th set of contacts. I hope
I'm explaining it clearly.

I searched Digikey, but seeing as they have 50,000 switches, and I don't
know what they are called, I didn't do very well :)

Thanks in advance,

-John

    Hi JOhn -

Here is one surplus source here, from C and H Sales:
    9850

(cut and paste link if necessary)

Scan down that page for item number JS9850 for a two axis joystick
    potentiometer
setup. It has no fifth push-down position however. Beware of the minimum
billing requirements as the switch is only $ 5.00US as you will see.

You can make your own, find an old Commodore 64 joystick, or you might try
one of the companies that sells arcade game parts.

The closest thing that I know of in a "mini-joystick" is the one being sold
    by www.didel.com
specifically at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.didel.com/Frames.html?MainFrame=microkit/
But you might have to work your way down into the microkit page section.

    John -

The xvl series is available with the center tap and they are cheap. I can't
remember where I purchased them, but you can call them and they will point
    you to a retailer.
