crystal for DS1302

The Jameco catalog has a crystal (Part #14584CP) with a frequency
32.768Mhz (correct for the 1302), but the capacitance is listed as
10.5 pf, however the Dallas Semiconductor notes specify 6 pf. Has
anyone used this crystal with the 1302? Can anyone tell me if this
spec is critical as long as the frequency is correct?
Thanks for any help.

I haven't experimented but it is my understanding that the DS1302
is rather particular about the capacitance of the crystal.
I suspect that it might work (then again, it might not 'kick-over" into
oscillation) but the accuracy would suffer.
We sell our DS1302s with the matching crystal to avoid these
problems.
