74HC165 Serial Shift Register

Where can I find an example of software for controlling a 74HC165 for
input?

The BS-2 manual has an example of software for a 74HC595 Serial to
Parallel Shift Register for output, but not for the 74HC165.

Any suggestions?

How about code for a 74LS299 shift register. I have code written to shift
data in, and shift data out with pin connections?

Thanks, But just two more questions. First, where do I go to look
for those StampWorks Experiments and two, do you have Llamas? We have
two of those wooley things and I'm looking for a new "treat" to get
    their attention.
