What is this called?

Slightly off topic here, but, what is the opaque black liquid called
that is used to pour over finished electronics/circuit boards to
encapsulate and completely cover it, and then it hardens? The
electronics would be first set into a (plastic) container or box with
any wires sticking out of the top, then this resin is poured over it
and hardens.

    It is usually epoxy based mix sometimes called potting compound.
