Has anyone looked at the possibility of connecting a Basic Stamp to
the Internet via something like this Lantronix Xport?

I've been looking for a way to have the Basic Stamp serve webpages to
the Internet or over a local LAN without the need for the RS232 and a
dedicated PC.
Thanks,
Ed

Take a look at the Site player interface.
http://www.siteplayer.com/
It will answer half your question.
No deticated PC, but the 232 is needed to communicate with it.
The Site Player has the web page imbeded directly in its memory.
It is a bit tricky getting the 232 comms and programming to work but
it does work.
The development board is worth the additional cost.

I've followed the Siteplayer...
I'll pursue if they every release their Internal SitePlayer
Language... looks like it's been taking a LONG time to develop.
