lego sensor integration

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience using lego sensors
with a basic stamp or handyboard. The problem is they only have two
wires. The way the the lego controller deals with this is by stopping
active power supply to the sensors for a couple milliseconds in which
it read input from the sensor. The sensor receives power during this
period from a capacitor. I was wondering if anyone has a circuit
diagram or knows a way of modofying lego sensors to act like normal
sensors (three wires: +5V, GND, and output). I'm particularly trying
to work with a lego light sensor and a lego shaft encoder. Thanks for
any help you can give, I appreciate it.
