You might try hooking up the contrast line to the middle post on a pot,
and then one of the outside posts to vss. It sounds like exactly what I
had going on, and that fixed it. But mine was Hitachi compatible.

Subject: [basicstamps] parallel LCD's PITA

I picked up a parallel LCD and it's a major Pain in the Smile!

It's a Tianma....and I'm not certain what exactly my order of
operations should be.

I have the inputs of the LCD connected to the top 8 outputs of my
stamp. So I should use OUTH as a command (eg. OUTH = %
00000001 'resets display?).
I have R/W tied low; RS to out4 (on bs2) w/pull-up resistor; E to
out6 (on bs2) w/pull-up resistor.

So....with the outh puttin out the bits that I want....do I pulse E
for the LCD to take it?

I can't seem to get more than the first line solid with
blocks...luckily that happens by just applying power!! haha

Thanks
