Difficulty displaying images with CMUcam

I have the Parallax, Inc. modified version of the CMUcam, which in
and of itself cannot dump images to a computer. I have a new
requirement that necessitates an image to be seen. After contacting
SeattleRobotics, I have added the Max232 chip, 4 1uf 50V capacitors,
5x2 .100 header pin to allow the serial connection, removed the
jumpers strapping the board to 9600 baud, and have the serial cable
ready to go. However, whenever I open hyperterminal I don't get any
response from the camera like the version number upon startup. Also,
the Carnegie Melon CMUcam gui is installed and it always gives a
reset failure error and says the serial read timed out. Anyone have
any ideas why I still can't get the computer and camera to
communicate?

    I have a few guesses
1 if unstrapped from 9600 what is it now ?
2 you will need to run it through the 232 driver twice to invert the signal

3 maybe one change at a time would help point you in the right direction.

I believe a "stock" CMUcam communicates at 115200
without jumpers. You might start there.
