Laptop LCD Display Panel

Learned colleagues;
My Toshiba 1519CS Laptop passed away recently, and after services an autopsy
was performed to see if it was a candidate for the Organ Transplant Program.
Unfortunately, the only candidate seems to be the color LCD display.
Since my knowledge of LCD video display borders on the infinitesimal, is
there any economically feasible way to use the display with any of the Stamp
modules I have going. Even a 4 x 20 character display would be fantastic.
If it helps, the LCD panel has a 2 x 10 female header and a 2 x 5 female
header, plus a ground lug.
Or should I just forget it?

While I'm not sure, I would bet against the use of it unless you can track
down pinouts and the appropriate controller for the lcd. My guess is that the
2x5 header is for lcd power, contrast, brightness, and power for the ccfl tube
that no doubt lights it. The 2x10 is most likely where you need to look to
actually pass the LCD data. I know you can buy a controller at some insane cost,
and even that wouldn't afford you very much functionality.

I don't want to sound negative, but give it up. I work
for a repair depot and one of our departments is
laptop repair. LCD panels are exceptionally complex
involving critical timing issues, equally complex
bit-patterns and RGB data, tight voltage requirements
(since you didn't describe two silicon (for the
high-voltage CCFT back-light) wires, I can assume the
3KV driver board is internal to the display) for the
logic and back-lighting, and are not very tollerant of
noise. When they work, they are wonderful and
dependable. Unfortunately, it takes the chip and board
manufacturers a lot of effort to make that happen.
Last, but not least, typical signals driving LCD
panels run into the dozens of KHz range over a 32 bit
pattern, something you wouldn't get from even multiple
stamps.
Great thought, though!
