Broken Pin

Hi all,
The other day I was pulling out my BS2 from the carrier board and I
pulled it at an angle so it bent and when I bent the pin back into place
it promptly broke off. Does any one know what these little pins are
called and if I can get them at a radio shack, or do I need to send it
to parallax for repair. I really would like to do this on my own because
I'm running out of time for my science fair, and I need it very soon.
Thanks
-Mike

replaced. I would suggest soldering a small guage wire to the Stamp
where the pin is broken off, then soldering the other wire end to the
underside of the Stamp's socket once you have re-inserted the stamp
with the rest of it's (23) legs back into the socket. This method
would make the stamp harder to pull back out in the future, however.
Also, don't get the Stamp too hot if soldering on it.

(Follow up): Which pin is it? If it is one of the i/o pins, you
could modify your program to use a different pin #, unless you are
using all 16 i/o lines, you would still have to repair the damaged
pin with the fore-mentioned solder method. If it's the positive (VDD)
or negative (VSS) pins, you would also have to resort to solder.

clipping from resister's pin, soldered it to the stamp, and thus gave it a
new pin... works fine. Might want to give that a try.

the place where the pin belongs. I would make the wire about 1.5 inches long,
which will allow you to insert the stamp, then insert the wire.

care about, and break a 'good' pin off it, as
high up the DIP as possible.
I then take a soldering iron, tin the 'good'
pin, press it to the 'broken' pin site, and
reheat the 'good' pin for about 2 seconds
until it is soldered in place.
Hold the 'good' pin with a pair of needle-nose
pliers, because it gets really hot.
