I2C addressing protocol

Ive just begun working with a TI 8 channel A/D converter interfacing to a
BS2P micon. I haven't had any experience with I2c before, and i was
wondering if someone could help me with the slave addressing issue. How do
i assign addresses? the data sheets don't specify one for the converter so i
assume it is up to me.
Thanks,
Christian

Every I2C device has an address and should be indicated in the data
sheet. There are 254 possible addresses so I don't think TI has left
this information out. What is the part number of the device you are
using? Is it possible that what you have is not I2C? All the data
sheets I have seen so far for I2C have very detailed information
about the I2C protocol and many times they will include the device
address in the first byte to be transmitted by the master.
Also, check the Phillips site. I believe there is a single address
which all slaves will respond to, possibly replying with their own
    address.
