Driving LEDs and PWM.

Hi,
I've read that there is a maximum current draw in total for the
basic stamp (Using the BS2p), and thus, i think driving 10LEDs is gonna be
a bad idea :P
I'm gonna assume a transistor switch will be the best choice
(Which btw, does anyone have any good info on these ? Some sample
reference circuits will be nice)
I'm debating to use PWM to control the brightness of my LEDs, will
a transistor switch work for this ?
