Room Mapping

Hey all,
I'm working on a project to create a bot that roams my house taking
readings (temp, Fire sensors, etc...) and then reports them back to
my computer. I realize that in order to do this, my bot would have to
have a "map" of the house and where it could link up to my comp. Does
anyone have any expeirince with this type of navigation? I'm using a
BS2 so is this even possible?
