Homework Board

Parallax has available a Homework Board Through-hole version (part #28157) that
would be ideal for a small project I am working on. I would also like to make
the plans available for others to make if they want. The problem is that you
have to buy this board in quantities of 10.
I can understand their reason for doing this, but it sure would be a nice (and
less expensive) solution for many projects that are out there.
So I guess my question is, has Parallax ever considered selling the Homework
Board in single quantities?

We have considered offering the HWB in smaller quantities. However, we
have maintained the course of offering it in only 10 and 20 packs and we
plan to stay with this approach.
I understand that you're looking for a lower cost solution. One of the
main reasons that the HWB is so appealing is the low cost. This can
only be achieved at higher quantities of production. If the HWB was
available in lower quantities, the qty. 1 pricing would be very
comparable to a BS2/BOE, so it wouldn't be as advantageous.
Perhaps you could form a group with other members on the list to
purchase a 10 Pack. If you're interested in pursuing this option,
please email the list and have them contact you off list to work out the
details.
I hope this answers your question.
Sincerely,
Erik Wood

Thanks for the reply and I do understand what you are saying. There are a couple
advantages I see for the Homework Board besides the lower price. It does have a
through hole breadboard, it has the 220 ohm resistors and it is compact in size
making it a perfect solution for many small projects.
Even if the single unit price was raised to $50.00 each it would come out a much
better deal then a BS2/BS2 Carrier Board deal for many projects.
Again, I can understand the reason you are doing this and appreciate your
listening.

simple projects you want to hardwire. I was just looking for a way to make
something that many others might like to make themselves. At $50.00 for the BS
and Homework Board it makes it worthwhile to make. At $100.00 for the BS and
Carrier Board it doesn't.
