power on/off concerns

I plugged my basic stamp 2sx into a breadboard. I've connected serial
lines and power lines. To turn power on and off, can I just plug and
unplug my 9v battery leads from the breadboard? Or will this damage
the stamp? Thanks

No problem. All you have to do is disconnect either the ground lead or the
power lead - you don't have to remove both.

Safer to remove just the ground. The positive could possibly come in contact
with something else that is either electrically sensitive or grounded
itself - possibly roasting your wall wart.
