Sumo Bot Kit (a different one)

Hi all,
Anyone out there tried the Sumo Bot kit? It's appeared in the local
Maplin shop (Nottingham, England) at just under £80 and boasts on-board
BS2, pseudo-track drive (a rubber belt around two wheels on either side)
and infra-red remote control and collision avoidance. There's a small
breadboard on it, motors and gears (not hacked servos at that price) and
a CD-ROM with programs and info. The bad thing is it's too big (7" x
4.25") for mini-sumo contests. I'm tempted to buy one but I'd like to
hear other people's opinions first. There's info at http://www.acroname.
com/robotics/parts/R186-SUMO-KIT.html.
Any comments?

The Sumo Kit from Tab/McGraw Hill does include a BASIC Stamp surface mounted on
the board (similar to the Parallax Toddler PCB or Parallax SumoBot PCB). This
demonstrates how customers implement the BASIC Stamp into their designs at
larger quantities - by mounting the PBASIC Interpreter Chip on their own board.
The breadboard is identical to the breadboard that is featured on the Board of
Education.
The kit may be purchased from Barnes and Noble (at the stores and online) or at
www.acroname.com.
I would recommend visiting the Yahoogroups tabrobotkit discussion board to make
a decision.
Tab's web site ( www.tabrobotkit.com ) should contain detailed product and
technical information.
Good Luck!
