Possible Worm/Virus

It appears that the BASIC Stamp list has been attacked.

If you received a message from "basicstamps-ownder@w..." with the file
"resume.scr" attached to it; do not open the attachment. Simply delete the
message and you computer will be fine. Of course, it's always good to have
virus protection on your computer. In general, if you get a file attachment
that ends in .SCR or .PIF or .EXE and you don't know who it came from, don't
open it or you're likely to be sorry.

I will call our administrator when the California office opens to see if we
can have that message sticken from the list and the offending address
filtered out.

This is an ugly reality we face today. Over the weekend, Parallax was
"e-mail bombed." Somebody set up a bunch of computers to flood our e-mail
server with bogus messages (hundreds of thousands!), causing us to take our
servers of line and take very drastic measures. Our IT department was tied
up all weekend (even Microsoft was baffled by the technique used) so we could
be back online Monday morning. It was a mess.

I wish we could catch these idiots and ship them off to Singapore for good
caning....
