counting multiple switches using rc time

Hi.
I would like to set up a circuit where I have 100 buttons connected to
one pin. I'd like to be able to tell how many are pressed at any one
time. I don't care which are down, just the total number. I read the
"one pin, many switches" but I'm still a bit confused.
Can I just connect all the pins in parallel using the same resistor
value for each? What would be a good resistor/capacitor value to use for
100 switches?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
