Does anyone know where to find low ohm resistors - - I need a .02 ohm 10
watt tolerance doesn't matter 3 or 5 % is fine. I only need 1 so I don't
want to buy in bulk. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I believe you can get them from Allied Electronics(www.alliedelec.com) or
Digikey(www.digikey.com)
I don't have my catalogs with me so I cant look them up for you.

Another method would be to wind some wire on a core. I don't know what your
current requirements are. Try www.alphawire.com
They have a good technical
section that should give the resistance of wire.

A little tip about winding low value resistors. If you wind some wire into
a coil you are creating an inductor which may cause other problems. To make
a low value resistor without creating inductance, determine a length of wire
needed for the resistance required, fold it in half, then wind both strands
at the same time. This cancels the inductance to a great extent and keeps
the device a resistor. This esentially is the method used to produce low
value non-inductive wire wound resistors. Be sure to consider the
temperature of the insulation on the wire when doing this.

is this a low ohm resistor or a current shunt?
shunts are readily available from the major suppliers.

If you plan to make a resistor from winding wire on a form, there is a real
nice wire table that tells Ohms per foot at:
