An EEPROM is an Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read-Only
Memory. These are usually meant to be programmed multiple times and
read many more times. The programming makes them wear out with time -
some 100000 or 1000000 cycles per storage location. But there is no
read limit. Typically they hold the program for a PIC.
A PIC is a Programmable Integrated Circuit. It contains the basic
parts also found in any computer: Processor, RAM, (EEP)ROM and
Input/Output. A PIC is something like (very) small Computer.
PICs are usually programmed in assembler or C using a compiler.
A BasicStamp is also a small Computer containing a PIC, EEPROM,
voltage regulator, drivers and some more parts and particularly a
basic interpreter in it internal EEPROM. The BS contains soft- and
hardware to make using a PIC easy. That is the advantage of a BS over
directly using a PIC. However, some application need the speed and
greater flexibility of a bare PIC - e.g. if exact timing is critical
or you need interrupt capability.
I recommend a careful look at the Parallax website www.parallax.com,
they have lots of free materials to get warm with stamps.
For further reading, see www.emesystems.com/BS2index.htm to learn how
to get most from your stamp.

I've seen on the Parallax catalog a color video camera with radio
transmitter &
receiver with signal amplifier for up to 5 miles but need Amateur Radio
License.
Does it mean that Parallax can not sell it to me if I do not have that
license?
Because , in fact, my client are Peace Keepers and they already have
this license.
Can I order it for them? Will Parallax need theyr license number? Or
what.
Is the small camera as also audio?
Is the tranceiver & receiver do video and audio signal ?
Thanks
Rene
We no longer carry the product that you are looking for (audio/video
transmitter/receiver and camera). The supplier for the items is Matco,
Inc. although there may be other products that are compatible.
Good luck,
