Thanks for all the replies on my newbe question. My project has
turned into 5 (12 volt 4 amp) out puts to solenoids, what can I use
to drive them ?

    Robert,

    I'm not sure if I have your requirments right, but it sounds like the
    ULN2003 would work for you.

    Think we need a bit more information. 12v 4amp - is that per solenoid? The
    2003/2803 can only handle 500mA. Most of the solenoids I use at work are
    either 8 watt or 3 watt using 24 volt AC. a 48 watt solenoid is pretty huge.
    What are the actual ratings of these solenoids?
