Nixies and Courage

Hi All,
So, I got my Nixie drivers figured out, and got a Nixie all hooked up. The
thing is, I'm trying to build up the courage to hook it up to the Stamp.
Why am I nervous? Because the Stamp will be connected to a SN74141N that is
connected to the Nixies which run on 150VDC! Everyone's schematic that I
have seen does this with no optoisolators. Many of them out there. But it
still makes me nervous, don't want to kiss off a B2SX. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jonathan

connects the
+150 VDC to the anode of the your nixies and then the nixies numbers elements
will go to
the nixie driver (7445) the logic connections of the nixie drivers go to stamp.
Because
of the large resistance, the stamp cannot see any appreciable current from the
150VDC. if
you are really worried, 10 volt zeners from logic connections on the stamp and
ground
would guarantee it never sees higher than +10 VDC.

Put a logic gate between the stamp and the 74141. i.e. An and gate with both
inputs tied together. That way if
things go wrong you smoke a cheap ic instead of the stamp.

Well, of course I went ahead and hooked it up. Works great, and the Stamp
seems fine. I might put some clamp diodes on as you suggest, just to be
sure.
Thanks for the input.
