LM34 temperature sensor

Can this sensor be used without an ADC using an RCTIME command
somehow? If not, do you recommend an ADC to use?
Thank you for any help.

    Scott,

I imagine you could use the LM34 with RCTIME. I never have but why not? The
output is a reliable 10mV a degree. How accurate do you need to be? I have
used the LM34 with a LTC1298, worked fine.

    Hi Scott,

The LM34 is not well suited for use with the RCtime command. The
RCtime command works better with a current source temperature sensor
like the LM334 or the AD592, or with a thermistor.

Analog to digital converters come in many flavors. A good starter
for one channel with scale and offset adjustments is the ADC0831. App
    notes are available from Parallax.

Thanks Jonathon and Tracy. Friend of mine also suggested the ADC0831 so I'll
    probably go that route.
