frustrated in this cold winter weather -- it's been in the single
digits and teens for days here and the static electricity has caused
havoc when programming both STAMPs and PIC's -- even knocked out our
ethernet connection for a while. I don't dare touch a MOSFET or a
CMOS chip without the wrist-strap.
if using the BOE, you can release the static on board if you have a
wrist-strap -- just momentarily touch the ground pin.
you may also build up a static charge on your serial cable and
connector just by getting close to it. same solution applies.
