Digital Audio Storage/Playback IC

I want to use the stamp to trigger an audio output.
The catch is that I want the audio that it triggers to be an
addressable digitised audio sample (eg a drumbeat, or some voice
with sound FX behind it).
I have found the ISD range of IC's (ISD1400 series), which do just
this but they are really only limited to voice applications, they
just don't reproduce audio quality. (I purchased and tested a couple
of these, fine for telephone answering machines, but limited audio
response.)
Does anybody know of anything else that might suit my needs?
Regards,
Dwain.

Check out http://www.quadravox.com/ their new QV502 module has mp3
quality sound. I have worked successful with QV306M1 and if your
sounds are of a high quality to start with and you use a good speaker
the sound quality is acceptable.
Cheers
