IR-Buddy and Phillips audio equipment

I've read that the IR-Buddy transmits in the RC-5 remote protocol,
which was used by Phillips audio equipment (except some of the newer
Phillips stuff, which uses RC-6)....has anyone tried this, and had any
success?

P.S.: Someday, my obituary will read, "Mr. Bryant was found dead
huddled over a microcontroller and half a dozen types of CD players."

guessing that it's a licensing issue to use rc-6. If someone from
Parallax could confirm or deny this I'd like to hear.
BTW: None of my dozens of remotes are using rc-5. I had to use a
programmable remote set for Philips TV and then only 1 out of the
many Philips choices worked. For example, none of the VCR, CD, or
DVD choices worked. They must be using rc-6.

manufacturers. When I wrote the docs I went to Wal*Mart and bought a $10
multifunction remote. I was able to get the TV and VCR buttons to work
without issue; I suspect any of the Philips codes (the only ones I tried)
were using RC-6 for those two functions.
