off topic. Robot base

Hi all: I apologize for this being off topic. I am looking for a Robot track
drive system. I want a medium size robot for outdoors. Around a 1.5 ft body
length. I have found various places that sell surplus motors online, but I
do not find any track systems. I have found tracks for tiny robots, but I
want a larger size.
I have been searching on the net for quite awhile now. I have thought that I
could use a toothed timing belt from a car, but then I have to come up with
some sort of drive sprockets, and some way to splice the belt to a specific
length. I have even been looking at R/C toys, but cannot find anything
suitable for sale.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
By the way it will be stamp powered so... :)

I have used the toy track unit described on the Kronos website. It is not
the most robust system but for $20 you can't beat it (Toys-R-Us). I built
my own H-bridge and with a stamp it happily explores my living room and
chases the cats. It will even crawl up a wall until it tips itself over.
Kronos website shows how to hack the unit in detail. Nice site.

He usually sells them on Ebay. They use rubber treads, not any good for
battlebots, but good for most any other use.

Gordon McCombs's famous resource "Robot Builder's Sourcebook" is a good

Check out Tamiya, they are primarily a RC supplier but have some items
that might work for you.
