Dear BASIC Stamp Educators,
If you are an educator using BASIC Stamp microcontrollers then we invite
you to join our new Parallax Educators discussion group. We created this
group for the following purposes:
- download/upload area for answers to our Stamps in Class texts:
What's a Microcontroller
Earth Measurements
Basic Analog and Digital
Robotics (Boe-Bot)
Industrial Control
Advanced Robotics (Toddler)
Logic (under development)
Art (under development)
- feedback to Parallax about the resources we create for your class
- discussion about how to use Stamps in education
- free hardware from Parallax for posting your answers to our Stamps in
Class text questions
Essentially, you'll be part of the group that crafts the future of the
Stamps in Class program. With a complete educational team at Parallax
2003 brings significant improvements to our texts and many changes to
our program in response to your needs. We need your guidance to continue
making the program what you want it to be.
This discussion list is not for students - only educators and those
involved in education. Parallax will be moderating the list and ensuring
only educators or contributors to the program subscribe. Your
YahooGroups profile must provide either a link to your personal web page
or education affiliation. Otherwise you will be notified and deleted
from the list. This is the type of structure we need to maintain to
focus on educator's needs and keep the answers from students trying to
find them the easy way.

Within two days we'll be presenting new concepts to you for feedback so
subscribe quickly and read past postings.
Sincerely,
Ken Gracey, Parallax

P.S. At this moment we are making no changes to the
stampsinclass@yahoogroups list. This list is filled with people learning
about the BASIC Stamp (students, teachers, etc.). We simply want to
pluck the educators and put them in their own group.

The ParallaxEducators Group will be replacing the "stampsinclass" group in an
effort to focus the
list for educators only.
As the stampsinclass list currently stands, students are able to jump on the
list and ask
project-specific questions. The basicstamps group (here) is a more open forum
to discuss ANY BASIC
Stamp related questions.
Recently, we have received direct feedback from a large number of teachers on
the list requesting a
more focused approach.
By limiting enrollment to those that are teaching, we will be able to provide
more valuable and
pertinent support to the educational community. We want to create a better forum
where teachers can
exchange ideas and provide us feedback to assist in the development of the SIC
curriculum, teacher's
guides, extra downloadable student projects, etc. We believe that many teachers
will be involved
with the basicstamps list and ParallaxEducators list.
I hope this information clears up any confusion. Please feel free to contact us
directly or on the
list if you have any more questions.
Sincerely,
Erik Wood

I hope this does not pull all the great talent we enjoy.
I thought that the stampsinclass group was for the educators ?
