Happy Holidays Stampers!
I'm selling a great mid-sized multi-purpose CNC hobby machine, so please
skip this message if you aren't interested -- and accept my apology if you
feel I'm abusing the forum.
*** I want to give my Stamper-mates a shot at this awesome deal before
putting it on eBay ***
OK... It seems that many Stampers do robotics projects (like me). And of
course people doing robots often need metal cutting equipment...
preferrable CNC (computer controlled)
OK, I've got a very nice StopTask 3-in-1 (Mill-Lathe-DrillPress) machinie
complete with 3-Axis 300 oz/in CNC steppers, drivers, IBM-PC w/monitor and
controller H/W and S/W (Ah-Ha design), several expensive upgrades (ball
screws, head elevator), extra lathe chucks, tools and tool holders (and
more) -- for sale at a killer price!
More... comes with a CNC rotary table (4th axis, never used it), LARGE 10
drawer workbench, extra little-yellow tool chest, metal chip/drip tray,
coolant system, follow-rest, cutting tools and lots of other goodies (vises,
angle blocks, squares, some measuring tools, manuals and some really cool
electronic stuff I never got around to installing).
If you been looking at Sherline mini-mill/lathes with CNC, then check this
baby out, it's much bigger, but not too big for a home shop and does a lot
more than the mini/micro units. It has separate motors for the Mill and
Lathe!
I bought all of it new. Honestly, I've used it less than a dozen times. In
fact much of it I've --never-- used at all.
If you were to buy this stuff today it would cost over $6300.
I'm letting it go for $3500 (obo). I'll even help deliver it in the greater
Seattle area.
If it's so wonderful why am I selling it? Well... I started off using it to
make prototype products -- mainly dash boards and enclosures for automotive
and electronic equipment. Worked great. Almost right away demand picked up
and I needed a production level machine (lucky for me).
So I bought some commerical CNC equipment, but I kept the Shop Task for
"some future use", which of course hasn't happened (probably will 10 minutes
after I sell it!).
Anyway I'm getting more commerical machines soon, sooooo, I need to make
room in my shop ASAP (like as in NOW)!
So it's been just been sitting there doing almost nothing for quite some
time -- I recent turned and milled few bars of stock on it -- still
works/looks/cuts great.
It's a totally turn-key setup, a perfect machine for the hobbist -- ANYTHING
you can do a large system you can do on this critter.
You can machine jigs, brackets, do ID/OD threading, make circuit boards,
steam engines, turbines, gunsmithing (I provide a follow-rest) whatever and
repeat/modify as many times, perfectly each time, as you choose. CNC is the
only way to go IMHO. Try cutting an ellipse or complex pocket with islands
manually! Program it directly using simple G-Codes or use a CAD/CAM package
(not included).
'Nuff said, if you are interested, please email me at
scottleatham@h... and I'll send pictures and lists of what comes with
it.
Take a look at www.shoptask.com, you'll get an idea of what I'm selling
(note again: my unit has the head-elevator and ball screws). My unit look
almost idential to the one they show on their pages.
Also note: I'll be placing this on eBay shortly after the holidays.
I just wanted to give my fellow Stampers a shot it it first.
Thanks and happy holidays!
