simple pinout question

If I have "HIGH 8" in my code, I know that it sets pin 8 to high, but on the
hardware side of things, is pin 8 equal to "P8" or is the "8th pin down from
the top left," which would correspond to "P3."

go high. Page 10 of the current Stamp manual has a good diagram showing this
relationship. When working on a project I make an enlarged copy of this
diagram and make notes as to which pin I am using for what.
