i am new to basic stamp. what is iButton? what does it do?

    iButton is a little memory device that looks like a watch battery. It
    allows you to write/read small amounts of data to/from it. It can be
    used in many applications but it is most commonly used in security
    devices, such as secured entry.

    These iButton devices usually come with plastic holders that you can
    attach to a key chain. Then, you can program it with a serial code
    number, etc. Then, you press the device up to the iButton
    connector. The data is sent down to the controlling device (ie -
    Basic Stamp) and the controlling device responds accordingly (ie -
    unlocks a door).

    That my friend, is what an iButton is.
