Compas Heading

Hi All,
I have checked the Parallax compas app mod for compas, but it only
provides accuracy ti 45 degrees, and I need accuracy to one degree.
I took a look at the Dinsmore Insttruments website and saw that they
do have analogue devices for measuring heading. Has anybody got any
information that may help me with interfacing these to the BS2?
Regards,
Dwain.

A serial, 12bit analog digital converter. It is able to convert
voltages from 0 to 5V (I presume the compas provides an analog
voltage signal).
See the PARALLAX home page for the 1298 (Accessory Docs).

of hours of search, I found some example code that was written to read the
Dinsmore and generate a binary output corresponding to heading. I don't
have the links, but with no more that a couple hours on Google, you should
be able to find it.
As you probably noticed, getting the heading is a function of two variable
signals that look somewhat like sine waves that are 90 degrees out of phase.
I think that Phillips also makes one or two flux gate type chips and there
may be some example code for those chips that will help you get started.
If you want a simple interface I remember a complete compass module for
about $90 that claims to provide 1 degree accuracy. I found it on one of the
robotics sites.
