vechile speed measure

Hi to all,
does anybody have idea how to measure a vechile speed without outside
sensors.
Because I need to use it on several types of car and I would like to jump
over any outside instalations. I'm already have a unit with proximity sensor
and magnet wrap installed on shaft.
I need to make a continuosly speed logger with alarm when driver drive over
speed limit which is set on unit. After 10 seconds it will write a data on
chip card.
Thanks in advanced.
Damir

    Damir,
Try using a GPS receiver that will acquire at least 4 sats and obtain a
velocity fix. Use one of the experiment codes that have been posted for
data loggers and just use the velocity section of the GPRMC code line from
NEMA. just a thought for a brief discussion of NEMA look here:

I didn't mention in a last mail that I would not like to use a GPS.
In that case I need to made antenna pedestal because it must be used in
several different types of cars and trucks.
I already have GPS Garmin 76 with NMEA 0183 sentences.

pedestal is not the best. use a magnetic mount antenna if you can as the
vehicle chassis makes a good ground plane which can be significant for good
    GPS reception
