Stoboscope questions

Hello, I'm trying to build a stroboscope with a Stamp
Homework board. I don't know how to convert an analog
tone from a speaker to some sort of digital pulse
that will flash a stobe light at the same frequency
of the speaker tone. The frequency will be constant
from the speaker. Thanks in advance for your help.

You mentioned the frequency from the speaker will be constant...however...

Every time the speaker is on will it be the same frequency?

If the frequency will be the same every time it is on (then remain constant
as you mentioned) I believe the easiest thing to to is as follows:

    1) measure the speaker frequency
    2) build a 555 timer to output the frequency of the speaker
    3) make the output of the 555 go to one input of an AND gate
    4) enable the other input of the AND gate when the speaker is on. You will
need to make a fairly simple circuit that will sense when the speaker is
active to then enable the AND gate. You will also need to interface the
output of the AND gate to the strobe circuit.

My feeling is the Basic Stamp is overkill for your application (assuming I
    correctly understand the application).

Make another posting if you have any further questions.
