Logic families around the BS.

Hello everybody,
I'm putting together a BS2p24 with various logic devices, most of them are CMOS.
For interfacing them, I have to use some logic ports. My doubt is about the
logic family to choose for the best matching: 4000B series, or 74HC? Actually,
I'm not dealing with high speeds (<2MHz), but sometimes I have a fan-out of up
to 4 devices, and I have to care power consumption on the +5V supply. And, does
the Basic Stamp need any requirement relating to the matching with the various
logic families?
