Need a sub for the old 2N2222A, preferably in an epoxy case- TO-92.

    Use a 2N3904, will not carry as much current at the 2N2222A but will probably
    work just fine. Or go to NTE electronics on the web, they will give you
    there equivalent p#

    I can't remember which is which, but I use a 2N4401 and 2N4403 for a 2N2222
    and its PNP mate. We have these at work and sometimes they follow me home.

    2n4401 works very well and is inexpensive. The PNP equivalent is 2n4403.

    the 2n2222 is available in plastic case as well as 2n2222 metal case. the
    2n3904 is similar and may work for your application. Check the data sheet.
