Hi.
I'd like a text editor that allows me to make the comments (') a
different color, vars, instructions, etc. a different color, a.k.a
syntax highlighting or customizable syntax coloring. I know these
exist, but many of them a bloated programs for multiple files.
I'd expect to have to copy then paste the code into the BS editor to
tokenize and load, and that's ok.
Do any of you know of, or use such a program? (besides the ones you
can buy as "programmers editors")
Thanks

The next version of the BASIC Stamp editor will include the features you ask
for -- as well as some other great upgrades. In the meantime, you might want
    to try EditPlus2 (www.editplus.com). It's a nice, non-bloated editor and can
be setup to call the BASIC Stamp editor to do the compilation and downloading
to the Stamp (the only thing that shows up when you do this is the DEBUG
Window if that's part of your program).

I've been using EditPlus for several months now and find it well worth the
    $30 shareware registration fee.

I always like it when the reply to a question comes to my mailbox before the
question does. HE HEE its like living in the twylight zone.
I also look forward to this new editor.

I really like the vim editor. it is at
    http://www.vim.org/
I like it because it works in unix, linux, ms-windows,
dos, just about any computer. It is improved vi
that has menus. It has a learning curve, but is
quicker to use because all the commands can be special
key strokes, and since you are mainly typing so
both hands are on the keyboard...

For mouse users it supports cut and paste. It
has a large amount of colorized syntax files:
DOS .bat, .ini, basic, c, perl, awk, spice, ...

I made one for PBASIC, but I have to switch
back and forth with the stampw editor to
read in changes and download them.

If anyone is interested I'll post the file here.

I work on UNIX and Windows and I find it very useful to use a common editor.
I use LEMMY, it's a version of VI that works on Windows... with Lemmy you
get the best of the two worlds...

Lemmy/VI is fairly easy to use and can be very powerful.

It is shareware from http://www.softwareonline.org/products.html and well
worth the $20 US dollar registration.
